Function - 30th May,2014

The regular Ceilidh Dance proved to be a popular event with 63 members, 8 non-members, 1 juvenile plus Committee Members enjoying a great night of music and dancing with the music provided by Ewan Galloway and his Scottish Dance Band.  The Band was made up with Ewan, himself, on Accordion, Bill Ewing on Piano and George Gray on Drums.     This was Ewan`s first visit to Helensburgh and the Band was well received by the dancers.  One nice feature during the evening was the featured Piano playing of Bill Ewing which is rare these days.  No time was lost between dances resulting in the Band completing the Dance List and also the `reserve` List!

The AGM was convened at the Interval and three people present were elected on to the Committee, namely, Neil MacLeod, Elaine Greenshields and Bill Irvine.  We welcome the new Committee Members. Five Committee Members stood down and a sincere thanks was given to Ronnie Reardon, Alex Wright, John Crossan, Alan and Margaret Mortimer for their hard work over a number of years.

There will be no increase in the admission charges for the coming year - they remain at £7 for Members and £8 for Non-Members.

The Raffle raised £212 and a sincere thanks to those who donated prizes and to those, of course, who dipped deep into their pockets and bought tickets.

Our President, Jim Browne, opened and closed the evening.

Our next Function will be in the Osprey Suite of the Commodore Hotel on Friday 27th June, 2014 with the music by David Husband and his Scottish Dance Band.
