Report on the October 2014 Function
Our last function was a Ceilidh and Dance on Friday 31st October. It may have been Halloween but for the 65 members and 4 non-members there were no tricks - only an evening of ‘treats’.
Favourites of the Association, Donnie and Diane provided the music. Donnie told us he has been coming to Helensburgh for 27 years and his lively music still keeps the dancers happy.
Unfortunately, due to an accident we were without our resident piper Bruce Shearlaw,
“get well soon Bruce”.
Andy Rankin introduced the artistes for the evening. Sisters Emma and Rachel Deans sang solo and together and their duet of “Caledonia” tugged at the heart strings, simply beautiful.
Local lad Ryan Young entertained on the fiddle. The speed of the bow on the instrument was breath taking, four hours of practice a day certainly shows.
The raffle raised £211.00, many thanks to all who donated prizes and for buying tickets.
The Xmas Supper Dance on 19th December is a ticket only function, contact John Johnston (01436 675191) for more information.
The next function is a Dance with the Stephen Carcary SDB trio on 28th November in the Osprey Suite, Commodore Hotel at 8pm.
