2014 HOGMANAY CEILIDH DANCE

Geilston Hall was the venue for the Association’s last function of 2014 and despite the counter attractions of three other dances, almost one hundred members and guests enjoyed a Hogmanay Ceilidh dance until the early hours of New year’s day to the wonderful music of Stuart McKeown’s Ceilidh Dance Band.

The evening began with two hours of dancing, followed by a half hour interval for refreshments and the drawing for the raffle prizes. The raffle raised £260 for charity. At midnight, year 2015 was welcomed in, to the stirring sound of the pipes of Pipe Sergeant Darren Lynch.  New year greetings were freely dispensed and received by all. The festivities continued and a balloon free-for-all ensued where mini-prizes were duly claimed by the lucky survivors.

Each New Year must have a ‘first foot’  and who better than local man Tommy McLennan who regaled the company with his party pieces and freely dispensed his ne’erday bottle among the guests. (Tommy is the only man who can get approximately 60 tots from a bottle!!!)

The merriment continued until 2am when Vice President Jim Gray closed the evening with votes of thanks to the band and to everyone who contributed in any way to the success of the evening.

Members are reminded that the first dance of 2015 will be held in the Commodore Hotel on Friday 30th January, commencing at 8pm, and dancing to the music of the Burn Brothers Scottish Dance Band…
