Monthly Function……24th JUNE 2016
On Friday, 24h, June was certainly not “bustin out all over” but was balmy enough to attract a smaller than usual crowd of sixty two dancers to make their way to the Commodore hotel, where they were welcomed by President John Johnston. John introduced the members of Liam Stewart’s Scottish Dance Band Trio who played their way through to the interval in a really rousing non- stop manner. The band had travelled some fair distance to be with us. Drummer Malcolm Ross had travelled from Arbroath, while Bobby and Liam Stewart had come from Galston. It was generally agreed that they were one the best bands to have played at any of our functions.
During the interval, tea and coffee were of course served and the raffle was drawn. The sum of £158 was raised which will be added to the sum for donation in 2017.
The second half got under way promptly and the remainder of the evening’s dancing passed all too quickly. It seemed no time at all when the President thanked all who had helped make the evening a success. “Auld Lang Syne “ rounded off what was a very enjoyable and successful occasion.
The next function is again a dance on Friday, 29th July, at 8pm in the Osprey suite , Commodore Hotel.
